Detection of plagiarism and fraud
Policy on Detection of Plagiarism and Scientific Fraud
JBAS adopts rigorous practices to guarantee the scientific integrity and originality of submitted manuscripts, not admitting plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or any other form of scientific fraud.
To this end, manuscripts submitted to the journal are evaluated through a double originality verification procedure, which may occur at different stages of the editorial workflow:
Verification by similarity detection software, using CopySpider, a tool specialized in identifying textual similarity in Portuguese, which allows for detailed analysis of possible content overlaps;
Editorial and peer review, carried out by editors and reviewers, who critically read the manuscript in order to identify possible inappropriate passages, cases of self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or misuse of sources.
When evidence of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or other practices that compromise scientific integrity is identified, the manuscript may be rejected, returned to the authors for clarification, or subjected to other editorial measures, depending on the severity of the case and the journal's policies.
JBAS reaffirms its commitment to ethics and scientific integrity, encouraging authors to ensure the originality of their work and to correctly cite the sources used.
