Code of Ethics and Best Practices

JBAS adopts the highest standards of ethics and scientific integrity at all stages of the editorial process, committing itself to promoting best practices in research, peer review, and scientific publication.

General Principles

The journal bases its activities on the principles of transparency, impartiality, editorial responsibility, confidentiality, and respect for intellectual integrity, following the recommendations of international best practices, such as the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must:

ensure the originality of submitted manuscripts;

adequately declare all sources used;

report any conflicts of interest;

guarantee that the data and results presented are obtained ethically and responsibly;

comply with ethical standards applicable to research involving human beings or animals, when pertinent.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers must:

conduct objective, well-founded evaluations within the established deadline;

maintain confidentiality regarding the evaluated manuscripts; Editorial Responsibilities

Declare any conflicts of interest that could compromise the impartiality of the evaluation;

Report to the editorial board any indication of scientific misconduct identified during the evaluation.

Editorial Responsibilities

The editorial team is committed to:

Conducting the editorial process in a fair, impartial, and transparent manner;

Ensuring editorial independence in acceptance or rejection decisions;

Preserving the anonymity of the parties involved in the peer review process;

Taking appropriate measures in cases of suspected or proven scientific misconduct, including plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, or manipulation of data.

Handling Scientific Misconduct

Suspicions of violation of this code will be analyzed by the JBAS editorial board, and may result in editorial measures such as manuscript rejection, retraction, correction of the published article, or other actions deemed necessary, according to the severity of the case and the ethical guidelines adopted by the journal.
